After much consideration and following the President’s statement, the Number 43 Foundation has taken the unprecedented step to roll-over, for the first time in more than 12 years, its Annual Legacy Events.
The 43inSA Golf Event now shifts to the 16 April 2021, whilst the Legacy Event shifts to the 18-19 June 2021. The theme and line up of speakers remains unchanged, namely, in alphabetical order: The Family of Bantu Stephen Biko, Candice Mama, Delphine Govender, Gogo Esther Mahlangu (Dr), Katlego Mbele, Manzini Choir, Ntsikwane, Sho Madjozi, Unathi, His Majesty William Gabula Nadiope IV, Isebantu Kyabazinga wa Busoga, from Uganda. To be added next year, will be the Family of Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe.
Fortunately, we intend keeping the original date of June 20, for a focused prayer and delivery of gifts to the Lutheran Church in Swaziland. On the 27th June, we intend repeating that at the residence of Gogo Esther Mahlangu, for the benefit of the Mpumalanga community.
We are happy to announce that the majority of our sponsors did not only agree to roll-over their donations to 2021, they also noted that money in the bank does not help anyone. Instead, they saw the value of a higher cause for a greater good. They offered that the Foundation continues to deploy the money already committed to the deserving causes.
They will contribute afresh next year. We will remain eternally grateful to these sponsors. That means the good cause is not compromised, and rightfully so at this time of dire need, with the distribution of food packs, blankets for winter, clothing of the poor and the distribution of books to deserving schools, under the banner of Magogoism. This is consistent with the spirit of Magogoism, of giving and sharing – selflessly. It is now that the needy require our support even more.
We deeply apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, in particular, to our sponsors and participants. But, as you will well agree, these are extremely extraordinary times, which require extraordinary measures. We strongly believe that this is what uMagogo would have also advised. The Foundation is deeply sensitive to the devastating impact that COVID-19 is causing around the world, both physically and emotionally. The key premise is the health and safety of our guests, sponsors as well as other partners. Our thoughts go to all those affected across South Africa and the entire globe.
We would like to thank you, most humbly, for your honest understanding, the unreserved support and firm belief in the good cause of Number 43, over the years. We promise to continue with the cause, even during this difficult period.
